I recently had a conversation with a couple of my straight friends who told me they had found a sex doll in a shop and bought it together. They said they wanted to use it to jerk off to gay porn and I was a little taken aback. I mean, it’s not like I’m particularly homophobic, but I was still quite surprised that they thought this would be a good idea.
But then they both started laughing, and I realised they were just joking. They said they’d been surfing around on the internet, looking for novelty gifts, and came across the sex doll. They thought it would be funny to get it and pretend to use it for their own pleasure.
Still, this got me thinking about the whole concept of straight people being interested in gay porn. I know there are people out there who find it a turn-on to watch guys getting it on, regardless of their own sexual orientation. I mean, it’s totally natural that people are attracted to what they are attracted to.
So I decided to do a little research, and what I found out was really interesting. It seems like for many people, sex toys there’s something liberating in watching two dudes getting intimate with each other. It’s a way they can explore their own sexuality in an environment where they don’t have to feel judged or uncomfortable.
And I guess the sex doll was a kind of an expression of that. I mean, even if it was a joke between my friends, I still think it’s kind of cool that these two straight guys felt comfortable enough to talk about porn with each other, and if it was about gay porn, well, that’s pretty awesome too.
It got me musing more about the concept of sexuality and how it’s far more fluid than many of us realise. It’s not just a case of binary male and female; there are tons of different gender identities and sexual orientations out there. So watching something like gay porn might be a small step forward in becoming more aware of the diverse nature of humanity.
The next thing I started considering was the porn itself. As my friends had remarked, gay porn is not necessarily more explicit or graphic than hetero porn, although it does often explore more extreme sexual practices. But if it wasn’t for porn, those risky activities would likely be severely underrated and frowned upon by most people.
Which brings me to my final thought. Watching any kind of porn isn’t for everyone, and it’s definitely something that should be approached with caution and respect. But if it’s done with an open mind and dildos done in a safe way, then I can see how it’s a great way to explore and learn about different sexual behaviours and orientations. Who knows, it might even open up a whole new world of possibilities.
